Matthew Morton: Renaissance Man
The key to raising a well-rounded young man is to expose him to a multitude of interests, whereby he can choose his favorites and proceed with further study. The basics of course are:

Music

Art

Fashion and Style

Then, there are the lesser known studies, such as...
Sticking one's head in a bucket

Next week, we begin the subtle art of wooing a lady (not that he needs any lessons!!!)

New Shoes...Rock 'n' Roll

Matthew got his first pair of Nike's this weekend. Even he says they are "so cool." Now we can see him from a mile away.

We celebrated by rocking out to the Wiggles!!!

"We love you New York! Good night!!!"

A Few Shots From the Weekend...
We had a laid back weekend at the Morton household. We went to the mall and ran some errands, but for the most part, we all just hung out.

And of course...no weekend would
be complete without a session or two of "Racin' Daddy" which is Matthew's way of saying playing Nintendo.

One of these days, we'll have our Wii and he and Daddy will be jumping around like crazy!!!

Matthews hair styles

Matthew has been experimenting with some new hair styles lately. By Matthew, we mean Daddy. We have the Ace Ventura Look, the normal style and of course, the ever popular just-rolled-out-of-bed look. Here are samples of each.

Matthew and Elmo

Big Night Out!

Granna took us to Chuck E Cheese last night and Matthew had a blast! He cruised with Stuart Little and Daddy. In case you were wondering the far-too-serious looking guy in the background won the race. Matthew loved dragging everyone around to different rides and games. We even won some tickets and got him a yellow lady bug. A 2 cent toy that probably ended up costing closer to $5!! Ahhh the magic of Chuck E Cheese!!!

Back Home

After a long and exhausting trip to Savannah, Matthew was glad to be back among all of his "stuff" He played "pay-do" and he has slept a lot this week, but then again, he had a lot of catching up to do!

More Presents and Happy New Year!

Granna and Da came over today with more presents from Kaki. You'd think that Matthew might be getting a little tired of presents, but no. He happily ripped into all of his gifts and helped everyone else open theirs too. Seeing as how Matthew won't be getting any more presents for 11 months, I hope he has gotten his fill. I also hope you all had a safe and happy new year.

Christmas

Matthew had a very exciting Christmas. On Christmas Eve we spent the day at Granna and Da's house. Matthew had so much fun. He understands presents this year, but we still need to work on learning that they are not ALL his. Here are a few pictures from Christmas Eve.

On Christmas morning Nana was here and Granna and Da came over for breakfast! After we ate we watched Matthew open all of his presents and of course as he opened them he wanted to play so it took a while for him to open everything. Here are a couple of pictures of Matthew opening presents at home on Christmas morning. In the background of picture 2 you will see Matthew's new table and chairs from his Nana. He calls it his "car table." Yes, he is obsessed, no we aren't concrened.....yet.

On Christmas Day in the afternoon we went to Jenn and Jay's. We opened presents again and Matthew was even more excited. Jennifer and Jay got him a whole bag full of Cars stuff. We now have ALL the cars except for Flo. We are now working on the actual names of the makes and models. For instance Ramon is a Chevrolet Impala. Or as Matthew says "Cheveryay Umpada." We're working on it!!!

Here is a very short video of Matthew doing a somersault.

"CHOO-CHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!"
Matthew played with his trains tonight! This may not seem like a big deal to you, but YOU don't have to listen to his contant stream of play-by-play action sequences from the movie Cars. During this ever-so-short interlude, he actually talked about something else!!! But, as you will see in the video, we always come back to Cars.

(in case you haven't seen the movie; 1. what are you waiting for? and 2. "Frank" is the combine/bull who gaurds the tractor/cows.)
Playin' at the Park

We went to the new playground at the church this weekend. It was nice for him to be able to play on slides that were actually designed for his size. He climbed up and down for an hour. He even raced his daddy. Daddy must be getting rusty in his old age, as he was 0-3 against Lightning Morton.

Christmas at the Ranch
We went to the Rancha de la Roca for their Christmas Round-up. There was a hay ride and a campfire, and of course Santa Clause giving out "cana-canas!!!" Here is Matthew showing his off. He enjoyed riding the tractor and seeing the "critters" in the barn. Ahh yes, Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without "critters" in Aubrey, TX!!!

Talkin' to Nana

Matthew had a nice long chat with his Nana over the weekend. He told her all about "lightin' mcqueen, doc, mater, sally, mack, DJ and guido's pit stops" (in case you hadn't noticed, we have a bit of a Car's obsession) Daddy doesn't mind, but now Mommy has 2 boys who are obsessed with cars. Here are a few pictures of Matthew on the phone.

Weekend at Granna's

Matthew enjoyed his Saturday afternoon and evening at Granna and Da's house this weekend. From "cars and trucks!!!" to painting on his "beazel" Matthew keeps his Granna very very busy, which means that every once and a while, Mommy and Daddy actually get a little break!

In the Snow

We had a little bit of winter weather this week. No one is sure whether or not Matthew enjoyed it, because he was far too busy being ticked about having to wear his coat hood.
